ETI publishes an evaluation report of careers provision in post-primary schools

The Department of Education commissioned the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) to evaluate careers education, information, advice and guidance (careers) provision in post-primary schools across Northern Ireland.
The evaluation considered how well post-primary pupils are supported in understanding progression pathways and making informed decisions about their future education, training and employment.
The evaluation concludes that careers provision is meeting the needs of pupils in most of the schools visited, with pupils becoming increasingly prepared for progression as they move through their post-primary education. The report highlights key next steps, including strengthening careers learning at Key Stage 3; extending access to work-related learning and work experience; strengthening careers leadership and delivery; and strengthening the planning and co-ordination of external careers support.
