Inspection Summary Report - October 2025
- The school’s aspirational vision, underpinned by the inclusive ‘Foyle Family’ ethos, is well understood and lived out across the whole-school community. It is supported by effective self-evaluation that identifies and embeds priorities for further development.
- The pupils and staff as the ‘Foyle Family’ live out well their core values of respect, responsibility, commitment, determination and integrity.
- The consistent planning for, and structure of, individual lessons is a significant strength of the learning and teaching.
- The positive, supportive working relationships at all levels help increase the pupils’ confidence, independence, engagement in learning and understanding of key concepts.
- The curriculum is broad, balanced and responsive to the needs, interests and aspirations of the pupils. It is enhanced by rigorous target-setting and continuous review, ensuring that learning is challenging, progress is sustained, and pupils are well prepared for successful transition to the next stage of education or employment.
- As a result of the rigorous review of the preventative curriculum, the pupils benefit from interactive, engaging, up-to-date and well-resourced learning that equips them to manage risk and keep themselves safe beyond school and online.
- In line with the school's vision to be an inclusive and supportive learning environment, the provision is made equitable and accessible through well‑targeted individualised support, enabling pupils to overcome personal barriers to achieve their goals.
- Success is embedded across the school and evidenced by strong examination performance at KS 4 and post-16, a diverse range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities, and well-established systems for monitoring the pupil’s progress.
- The performance of pupils at both Key Stage 4 and post-16 has improved steadily over the last three years as a result of the school’s sustained focus on raising attainment.
- The school is committed to collaborative strategic planning for, and promotion of, a professional learning community using evidence-informed research and resulting in consistent, high-quality learning and teaching that enriches the pupils learning experiences.
- The school's engagement in collaborative networks enriches the pupils' learning experiences, helping to foster well-being, leadership development, employability and wider skills.
- At the time of the inspection, the evidence provided by the school demonstrates that the arrangements for child and adult protection align to the current statutory guidance.
