The Learning Insight Profile (LIP) is a tool used to evaluate the effectiveness of planning, teaching and assessment for successful learning across a series of lessons. It is not a checklist for individual lessons but instead supports a broader understanding of how learners acquire and develop skills, attitudes and dispositions. Used during inspection, the LIP helps inform evaluations of learning, wellbeing and inclusion, while also identifying and affirming effective practice. In schools, it can support self-evaluation, promote consistency and high standards, encourage professional reflection and collaboration, and guide improvement work at whole-school, key stage or subject level.
