
Who we are…
The Education and Training Inspectorate provide independent inspection services and policy advice mainly to the Department of Education and the Department for the Economy and other commissioning departments, across all phases of education, training and youth provision.
The legal basis for ETI’s work is set out in The Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986 (Articles102 and 102A).
What we do…
Children and young people are firmly at the centre Education and Training Inspectorate’s work in terms of the quality of education and training which they experience, and the outcomes they achieve.
Our vision, our mission is:
‘Promoting improvement in the interest of all learners’
Through inspection and engagement with stakeholders, our work involves evaluating and reporting on the quality of leadership and management at all levels, quality of provision including learning and teaching, and outcomes for learners, in early years, primary and post-primary schools, special education, education other than at school, further education, work-based learning, European Social Fund programmes, youth, initial teacher education, inspections for the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, the Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland and the Home Office, as well as policy, planning and improvement work.
