In March 2010 the Department for Employment and Learning requested the Education and Training Inspectorate to undertake an evaluation of the Deloitte Employability Programme. The objectives of this survey were to evaluate the quality and impact, appropriateness and suitability of the programme.

In 2008, the Education and Training Inspectorate carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the use and impact of learning environments across the schools and wider education service. The evaluation included Learning Northern Ireland, which is the regional virtual online learning environment of the Classroom 2000 (C2k) managed service solution. The purpose of this follow-up evaluation is to determine the extent to which the key recommendations outlined in the original evaluation have been addressed by the various stakeholders.

The evaluation by the Education and Training Inspectorate of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) Programme was undertaken to inform the Department and the Education and Library Board Strategic and Operational STEM CEIAG groups of the effectiveness of the programme. The findings also have important implications for Departmental policy and strategy to support the effective delivery of support for STEM in schools in the future.

An estimated 3-4% of the school population in Northern Ireland is identified with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
